Our Story

About Chris

Hi, I’m Chris — the mechanic behind VeloTechnics.

I’ve spent more than 25 years working in the cycling industry, building, servicing and maintaining bikes at every level of the sport. My career has taken me from workshop floors to the highest level of professional cycling, working as a team mechanic at the Tour Down Under with teams including HTC–Highroad, Garmin–Cervélo, IAM Cycling, Groupama–FDJ, and Bora–Hansgrohe. Working in the fast-paced environment of professional racing taught me the importance of precision, reliability, and attention to detail — because when a bike fails at race speed, there’s no second chance.

For more than a decade I was the Head Mechanic at Baum Cycles, helping build and maintain some of the world’s most highly regarded custom bikes. Alongside that role, I started VeloTechnics in 2012 to offer riders in the Geelong and Melbourne region the same level of care and expertise used in the pro peloton.

Today, VeloTechnics is focused on providing high-quality servicing, honest advice, and meticulous workmanship. Whether it’s a race bike, weekend road bike, or a cherished custom build, my goal is simple: to keep your bike running perfectly so you can enjoy every ride.

As Geelong’s only mechanic with UCI WorldTour experience, I bring professional-level standards to every service — from a simple tune-up to a full rebuild.
